SmartStart Selected by Audit Department at Existing Optial client

Optial has completed another successful software enhancement project for a Nordic financial company based in Helsinki. An existing client for managing incidents, risk and compliance since 2019, Optial’s SmartStart GRC system was selected by the client’s audit team to manage their internal audit processes. 


As part of the 2024 project, the audit team worked closely with Optial consultants to understand their requirements and configure the system to match their way of working. Changes included:  

  • New system roles and access rights 

  • Additional steps and automation on existing workflows 

  • Custom fields and calculations on checklists 


The risk team also used the project as an opportunity to add new enhancements to the system to reflect changes in their processes, including: 

  • New incident process for information security breaches and email alerts for the CISO 

  • New ability for data protection officers to review incidents 

  • New cyber risk categorisations on risks 

  • New guidance and fields to capture additional data on the web form used by employees to submit incidents from outside the Optial system 


Optial supports clients by working closely with them to understand their ongoing requirements. Optial solutions are flexible and configurable, so can be regularly updated via enhancement projects to meet the evolving needs of the both the client and the industry and regulatory frameworks in which they work.
